Officials said a 4.8 magnitude moderate earthquake struck rural areas near Rajkot town in Saurashtra region of Gujarat on Thursday morning.
Ramkot Mohan, collector of Rajkot, said that there was no news of any casualties or property damage.
The official said that the epicenter of the earthquake was 20 km south-southwest of Rajkot city, which is close to Shapar and Tramba villages.
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Rajkot city at 7.40 am. According to the report, we have collected from the city as well as rural areas, but to no effect. There is no damage due to the earthquake.
After the earthquake, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held telephonic discussions with the collectors of Rajkot, Surendranagar and Amreli districts.
A government release said that they have instructed to collect information about any damage in their area and take necessary action.
